Da Bastilla is a balanced espresso blend with a sweet and nutty taste. For this espresso we combine two natural coffees from Brazil and Nicaragua in such a way that their characteristics complement each other perfectly. SWEET-NUTTY FLAVOURS OF NOUGAT AND BERRIES
SWEET & CREAMY ESPRESSO WITH BALANCED TASTE
The coffee is processed as a natural in Brazil and Nicaragua, giving it a particularly full and complex aroma. We have worked on the recipe of the Da Bastilla for a long time in order to combine the coffees perfectly. The result is a balanced espresso with a creamy texture – or as we call it – our summer candy for you.
Thanks to the composition of the green coffee and its medium roast profile, Da Bastilla is suitable as an all-rounder for all types of espresso preparation – from espresso machine, stove can to fully automatic machine. The coffee tastes strong and creamy, but never bitter or sour. Our tip: Try the Da Bastilla with the filter coffee machine if you are a fan of strong filter coffee.
We roast your coffee fresh every week
We roast Da Bastilla in a gentle drum roasting process in our roastery in Berlin. We pay close attention to finding the point where the complex aromas of the green coffees unfold optimally. The roasting profile is put together individually by our roasting masters according to the composition of the coffee. We roast this espresso blend as a medium profile in 48 kg batches up to a final temperature of 216 °C in about 14:30 minutes.
Da Bastilla is composed of two high-quality green coffees. The Brazilian component comes from our long-standing partners at Farm Daterra. Daterra is probably the most renowned farm in Brazil. On the one hand for the extraordinary qualities they produce every year, on the other hand for their sustainable methods in coffee cultivation and agriculture. For Da Bastilla we use a green coffee from Daterra, which is processed naturally. For this purpose, they let the cherries dry directly on the coffee plant, so that the sweetness of the coffee cherry is wonderfully absorbed into the bean. This process is called „dried on tree“, which was originally used in Harrar in Ethiopia. Daterra produced outstanding results in the last harvest and surprised us with this coffee.
The beans from Nicaragua give Da Bastilla a more complex flavour. The Nicaraguan coffee brings a great nuttiness, which is complemented by sweet notes of marzipan and milk chocolate. This coffee is also naturally processed, which gives it an additional fruity nuance. Particularly noteworthy is the creamy body that Nicaraguan coffee gives to Da Bastilla.
The coffee comes from the farm La Bastilla, which we got to know last year through mutual friends. This lot from La Bastilla immediately delighted us. The combination of nut and fruit and the soft, creamy body is unique. Try it yourself!
Did you know it? The name of our coffees always tells you something about the origin or characteristics of the coffee. So „Da Bastilla“ unites the origins of the Daterra and La Bastilla farms.
