Our first coffee from the Value Chain Project - from Thiririka, Kenya. Thiririka is the name of the cooperative we are working with on this project. The goal? High quality and high wages in Kenya. The recent harvest was in our eyes, the best Thiririka has produced since we started working together in 2018 and we are happy to share this wonderful coffee with you. FLORAL AND VIBRANT COFFEE FROM OUR PROJECT PARTNER THIRIRIKA

FLORAL COFFEE WITH FRUITY ACIDITY

Thiririka coffee is a very floral and lively coffee, which impresses with intense and complex aromas. The fruity notes are reminiscent of ripe citrus fruits such as lime. The floral direction of the coffee is reminiscent of hibiscus. The Thiririka coffee is lightly roasted, so that these flavors come out very transparent.

Preperation tips

Thiririka coffee is suitable for all types of preparation of filter coffee. We recommend the coffee for preparation with the of hand infusion or Chemex and also with the filter coffee machine, such as the Moccamaster.

We roast your coffee fresh every week

We roast the Thirika fresh and particularly gently every week in our roastery in Berlin. In the process, our roast masters pay close attention to the moment at which the sweetness and aroma of the coffee unfold optimally. The roasting profile is individually composed by our roast masters depending on the characteristics of the coffees.

Origin

The coffee from Thiririka is a matter of the heart for us. Thiririka is the name of a coffee cooperative that consists of three washing stations – in Kenya these are also called „factories“. During our cuppings in Kenya to select the best coffees of the harvest, we came across Thiririka. Together with our partner Ibero Kenya, we conducted interviews and a „Need Assessment“ with Thiririka’s farmers to determine where they need support to achieve even better coffee quality. Through better and consistent quality, the cooperative and thus the coffee farmers can increase their income – regardless of whether we buy the coffee. This quality project has been running for three years and this coffee is a result of the second harvest of the project period. Look forward to a fabulous coffee.
