Women Powered Coffee with a Major Impact

With Tarrazú, we have expanded our commitment to sustainable coffee projects. From 2024 to 2025, we invested in six new initiatives worldwide through the Coffee Circle Foundation e.V. – including a project in Costa Rica that we set up in partnership with the NGO Bean Voyage.
Bean Voyage is specifically dedicated to supporting women in coffee farming and offers training, access to finance, mentorship for women farmers and connections to potential buyers. This is how we came to meet Seilyn Jimenez, one of the coffee farmers behind Tarrazú, whose coffee immediately won us over. In her home region of the same name, this, combined with the distinctive beans from her colleague and fellow farmer Rosa Aura Navarro, results in an exceptionally complex coffee: chocolatey, nutty and slightly fruity.

A special natural-processed coffee, carefully harvested by hand

As soon as the coffee cherries are ripe, they are carefully hand-picked and, after sorting, dried in the sun on raised drying beds for around three weeks. During this time, they are turned regularly to ensure even drying. This so-called natural process brings out the fruity sweetness of the beans and results in a particularly creamy coffee. Seilyn’s and Rosa’s naturally processed beans are ideal for fans of complex filter coffees with exciting flavours.

Tips for Preparation

Tarrazú’s harmonious balance really comes into its own when brewed as a pour-over, for example using the Hario V60. Its complex flavour profile is also brought out to the full when brewed in an AeroPress or a traditional coffee machine. Are you a fan of milk-based drinks? This natural coffee is a real treat, whether enjoyed on its own or with milk (or milk alternatives).

With its delicately spicy sweetness, lively fruitiness and wintry warmth, Tarrazú is the perfect companion for the cold season.
