Frisch gebrühter Pink Bourbon Kaffee

Light roasted filter coffee - a fruity taste experience

SWEET BERRIES AND FRESH CITRUS

We are excited to ring in spring with another favorite coffee from our recent trip to Colombia. The Pink Bourbon is a lightly roasted filter coffee with a harmonious interplay of sweetness and acidity that gives it a pleasant and playful note. In addition to the typical Colombian nutty and milk chocolate aromas, it also offers nuances of ripe fruit and fresh lemon.

Preparation tips

The Pink Bourbon roast is suitable for all filter coffee preparation methods. It unfolds its aroma particularly well when prepared using the pour-over method, such as with the Hario V60. Alternatively, the Aeropress or the classic coffee machine are also suitable.

Light to medium-bodied and fresh roast

We roast the Pink Bourbon fresh every week in our roastery in Berlin. Our roasting masters pay close attention to the moment at which the sweetness and aroma of the coffee develop optimally. The roasting profile is put together individually by our roasting masters depending on the characteristics of the coffee. The Pink Bourbon is roasted light to medium-bodied, making it very balanced and suitable for preparation on its own or with milk.

Origin

The Pink Bourbon comes from the Huila region in the southwest of Colombia. The coffee farm of Jhoan Vergara and his family is located at an altitude of 1,750 meters. Jhoan has earned himself an international reputation in the specialty coffee world thanks to his exceptionally good work and the quality of his coffees. In addition to the usual Colombian Arabica coffee varieties such as Castillo, Caturra and Bourbon, Jhoan Manuel also grows the unusual „Pink Bourbon“ variety. The name is derived from the pink color of the ripe coffee cherries of this plant. This variety requires a lot of attention and care from the farmer, and the yield is lower than with other varieties. After harvesting, the cherries are carefully processed by floating them in a water bath to separate ripe from unripe cherries. The beans are then mechanically separated from the pulp and the remaining pulp is removed by fermentation. Finally, the beans are placed on raised drying beds to dry evenly and are regularly turned by hand.
