The Pearl S connects to your smartphone via the Acaia app. The advantage: You can download ready-made brewing recipes from well-known roasters or create your own. The scale then guides you step by step through the recipe on its display – from the amount of coffee to the brew time.

Full Control During Brewing

When making pour-over coffee, it’s important to pour the water evenly. The Pearl S shows you in real time on its display – in grams per second – how fast the water is flowing. This lets you see immediately if you’re pouring too fast or too slow, so you can better control your technique.

6 Automated Brewing Modes

Depending on how you make your coffee, the scale offers six different programs that take the work off your hands. A practical example is the portafilter mode for espresso: The scale detects the empty portafilter and automatically resets to zero. When you place it back on the scale filled with ground coffee, the display immediately shows the weight of the coffee alone. Other modes help you with filter coffee, for example, by starting the timer the exact moment the first water begins to flow. This saves you from having to press buttons every time you brew.
